Politicians and advocates on Long Island in New York City and in Albany cautiously reacted to Metropolitan Transportation Authority's (MTA) plan to solve their cash strapped problems. The proposals includes a regional payroll tax on business and self employed and tolls fees on East River ans Harlem River bridges which are free for now. Surely no one will like these two options presented. MTA spokesman Mark Hansen said while both the state and city are facing extraordinary fiscal challenges, they has a responsibility to ensure high - quality service for riders and fares should remain affordable at the same time.
